Make My House Home

Privacy policy

How I look after your information, in plain English.

The short version

  • I only collect what I need to reply to you, book you in and work on your home.
  • I never sell your details, and I don't share them for anyone else's marketing.
  • You only get my emails if you sign up, and you can unsubscribe in one click.
  • You can ask to see, change or delete your information at any time.

Who I am

I'm Rebecca Hadley, and I run Make My House Home. The business is a limited company, Make My House Home Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company number 09781136.

Make My House Home Ltd is responsible for your personal information (the legal term is "data controller").

If you have any questions about your information, email me at info@makemyhousehome.com.

What I collect, and why

When you email me

Your name, email address and anything you tell me about your home or project. I use it to reply, and to keep track of our conversation if we go on to work together.

When you book a call or Your Home Understood

Bookings are made through Calendly. It collects your name, email address and the answers you give in the booking form, which may include your address and details about your home. I use this to arrange and prepare for our call or visit.

Your Home Understood is paid for when you book. Payments are handled by Stripe. I never see or store your full card details.

When you join my mailing list

My mailing list runs on Kit. It collects your email address, and your name if you give it. I use it to send you emails about homes, design and my services.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list straight away.

When we work together

If you become a client, I'll hold the information I need to design and deliver your project. That includes your contact details, your address, photos, measurements and plans of your home, and invoices and payments.

When you visit the website

The website is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify keeps basic technical records of visits, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and secure.

My legal reasons for using your information

UK data protection law says I need a lawful reason to use your information. Mine are:

  • Your consent, for my mailing list. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • A contract with you, or steps before one, when you book with me or become a client.
  • Legitimate interests, when I reply to your enquiries and keep the website secure.
  • Legal obligation, for keeping business and tax records.

Who else sees your information

I use a few trusted services to run the business. They only use your information to provide their service to me:

  • Calendly, for bookings
  • Stripe, for payments
  • Kit, for my mailing list
  • Netlify, which hosts this website
  • My business email provider

If we work together, the small team who help me run projects may see the information they need to do their part. So may the builders, suppliers and specialists working on your home, when it's needed to deliver your project.

I'll also share information if the law requires it, for example with my accountant or HMRC.

I never sell your information.

Information stored outside the UK

Some of these services store information outside the UK, including in the United States. When that happens, they use safeguards approved under UK law to protect it.

Cookies

This website doesn't set any cookies of its own.

Some outside services on the site may use their own cookies, but only when you use them:

  • Calendly, when you open the booking window
  • YouTube, when you press play on one of my videos

The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google to load them. Google Fonts doesn't set cookies.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to a project: up to 2 years after we last spoke.
  • Client records: 6 years after your project ends, because the law requires me to keep business records for that long.
  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.

After that, I delete it securely.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

  • send you a copy of the information I hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how I use it
  • send your information to you or someone else in a format they can use

Just email info@makemyhousehome.com. It's free, and I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, I'll update this page.
